I began my yoga studies as a teenager when I accompanied a neighbor to a community class. I hit the library and began reading and practicing on my own, following the sequences in books. During my senior year of high school, my school offered a class. Through college, I enjoyed flirting with all styles of yoga from Iyengar, and a variety of heated yoga and freestyle approaches. Some were good for me then and I enjoyed; other styles were never a good match.
When I moved to Boston more than a decade later, I found a home at O2 Yoga Studio after an energizing and amazingly transformative Astanga class with Elliott. I dived in and became a certified teacher in 2009 after completing Mimi Loureiro’s teacher training. I continued with a 500 hour training in 2013. In addition to my home practice, I continue regular study with Elliott, Mimi, Barbara Benagh and Natasha Rizopolous. And, have taken many workshops with Richard Freeman and Sarah Powers.
I teach both a physical Astanga based O2 style yoga class and a mellow alignment based slower flow. My classes are fun and playful, allowing time for somatic awareness, adjustment and modification. I guide my students to move mindfully through a balanced practice. Intelligence, patience and attention keep bodies safe as they flow through the practice.
I teach private, studio and corporate classes in the Metro Boston area to all levels; my youngest student is 5 and my oldest is 79! The only requirement to begin a yoga practice is curiosity and an open mind.
Namaste!
